With little knowledge of any of the movies, I went on a movie rampage during the holidays. Among them was Fantastic Mr. Fox. Iv'e seen a couple of Wes Anderson's other movies and really enjoyed them so when I found out he directed this I was instantly swayed to do it.

The aesthetic is really interesting to me. It reflects the almost-toy like look of the example animations we saw in the lecture. With my original intention to do Bioshock (as I am quite familiar with it), I opted to instead do this as it was more relevant to me.

My intention is to make perhaps a sewer room? From the part where the animals get flushed underground. Else, when Fox is on the lookout for a new home, I could make another potential home he looked at.

After discussing in class, the sewer scene seems quite difficult to make. There would be a cross-section more than likely:

To have a camera move through that would be difficult without making multiple model scenes. Whats more, the look of the sewer is quite generic. I think the house would be a better option.

I instantly think of a tree. A house inside a tree. It would be fun to make a tree. Looking at the big picture, I could make the tree on a hill, have that as the intro 5 seconds to set the scene, and then circle around the living room.

The orange tint would be essential to get it looking the same. I imagine that could be done in after effects. The tree seems very complex however, the branches and leaves. As seen above, it could prove a very daunting task.

With some reference to the original scenes from the movie where he inspects the house pre-moving in, it looks a bit like this ^

Wooden walls. Stone fireplace texture. Wooden tree trunk roof. Conclusion: lots of wood texture.

I also read that much of the fabric and textures were based around the clothing and preferences of Wes Anderson and his personal wardrobe. This is quite a vintage look of browns and tartan.

If I were to make the couches and rugs, they could be tartan textured. Else a shade of brown. This would add to the warm tint of the scene already. I can imagine there would be lots of little artworks on the walls which could be quite difficult? Wooden beams around the doors and such.

Here is a quick floor plan:

The kitchen would probably just be a fridge, oven, counter top on the wall a la:

I do find it weird how the kitchen has carpet on it though.

As you can see, there is a strong dominance of browns and reds, and elegant patterns on the cloth objects.
